We have developed systems of mentorship with our advisors, and with our senior students that allow for the underclassmen to gain this experience through professional trips, professional meetings, and in internships and study abroad programs, that will ensure the students to be successful in their professional career once they graduate.
Practical learning is incorporated into the College of Business in two major ways .First, internships. The second way is through mentors. In our BADM 301 professional skills course, every student is assigned a professional mentor from the business community. For some of our students, this is the first time they get a glance into what their business career will look like. It truly adds value to the student experience.
Student success is important in the Burton College of Education as it aligns with our new motto which is: empower students, invest in communities, and impact the world.
We don't see your education as an endpoint, but simply a starting point once you leave, and we want you to be well equipped. Well equipped for the world.
In the College of Nursing and Health Professions, it's a slam dunk that face to face and hands-on experiences are a mandate in health professions.
There's very common elements that tie back to hands-on training, hands-on exposure, internships, co ops. So what we've been trying to do throughout the College of SEM, which is science, engineering, and mathematics, try to get our courses aligned with that more practical aspects of the educational process.
